10 Benefits of Anti-Cellulite Body Wraps to Lose Weight

Body wraps are all the rage these days. You might have even seen billboards of TV commercials touting the miraculous slimming benefits of these treatments. Women arrive at the spa in the morning and leave an hour later, suddenly three dress sizes smaller and completely free of cellulite!

What is a body wrap?

A body wrap – also known as a ‘body cocoon’ or ‘body mask’ – is a non-surgical treatment done at a spa or DIY home treatment created to enhance the health and appearance of skin, and/pr reduce body measurements. A nourishing oil or mineral-rich formula is applied to the spa guest’s limbs and torso before they are wrapped in cotton, maylar bandages or plastic film. This promotes the extraction of dirt, toxins and excess water from the skin.

While most wraps are performed on the entire body (minus the face and genital area), some such as cellulite and bust wraps- are applied to certain areas alone.

For a garden-variety body wrap, you lie on a massage table and get rubbed own with an exfoliating scrub, in t whatever variety you picked from the menu (most spas offer a few options). After you rinse off in the shower, the therapist applies the wrap ingredients (maybe seaweed, mud, clay or an herbal or fruit product) to your body, covering it with a layer of plastic wrap. When you’re all wrapped up, you might be further covered with sheets, towels and thermal blankets. And then you’ll be left alone to relax and sweat for about 30-minutes to one hour.

So, those are the facts-but the unwrapping point is where fantasy (and advertisements) start to separate from reality. The spas want you to believe that you’ll be emerging from your wrap as if from a cocoon-a completely relaxed, moisturized, detoxified, cellulite-free and noticeably slimmer butterfly. But, if you’re familiar with the phrase ‘too good to be true’ – a we think you are—you probably won’t be surprised to learn that the results probably won’t be so dramatic. Experts warn especially not to expect medical results for conditions like arthritis.

As long as you’re not expecting to permanently lost 10 pounds and 3 inches off your waist, there are some benefits to body wraps. No one will argue that it feels pretty cozy to be wrapped up and left to relax in a dimly lit room for a half-hour or so. Your skin will most likely feel soft and supple after being slathered in moisturizers. And you could lose some water weight and see improvement in your cellulite-but just be prepared for the results to diminish after a couple of days.

So, without further ado, here are five benefits of body wraps. Just be sure to take any spa claims with a grain of (sea) salt.

What Health and Beauty Benefits Does a Body Wrap Treatment Provide?

The pampering experience of a body wrap can provide multiple benefits, depending on the type chosen:

• Detoxification: Body wraps featuring detoxifying algae; seaweed, mud or clay can help rid the body of toxins through metabolic skin cell stimulation. As your largest organ, detoxification of the epidermis can have a significant effect on your health and overall well being.

• Temporary inch and/or weight loss: Wraps with detoxifying ingredients teamed with firmly wound bandages will see you seat out any excess water and toxins, and also tightening your skin. This can temporaratily improve the contours of your body and see you lose a dress size or two.

• Dead skin removal: Wrap treatments comprising an exfoliation stage will see dead skin cells lifted, providing you a smoother complexion top-to-toe and a flattering glow. You can choose to enjoy a body polish before your wrap if exfoliation is not include as part of your treatment.

• Intensive miniaturization: The vast majority of wraps comprise of moisturizing ingredients to hydrate, nourish and smooth your skin for improved condition.

• Relaxation: Once you’re fully wrapped by your esthetician, you’ll be left to relax for up to 30 minutes. This will provide you with valuable -and real-mental physical downtime.

• Removes dead skin and moisturizes: Dead skin is something no one wants lingering around, it makes your skin look dull and stops your body from absorbing moisture. While you sweat during a most types of body wraps, not only are the toxins removed from the body, but the dead skin is loosened as well.

• Improves skin elasticity and regeneration: Over time, your skin loses the ability to stretch and return to normal – This leads to stretch marks and wrinkles, but depending on the type of body wrap, many anti-cellulite wraps contain antioxidants, essential fatty acids and vitamin A, all of which can help to rebuild the elasticity of the skin. It also makes your skin more supple by increasing blood flow to the surface, regenerates damaged skin cells, produces collagen to firm and tone the skin and reduces the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.

• Reduces cellulite and helps tone the skin: body wraps can help aid the shaping of skin so it’s smoother and tighter by direct diffusion of vitamins and minerals. Additionally, if cellulite is a problem, a seaweed wrap may help to reduce the undesirable marks left on the skin.

• Increased metabolism – During the wrapping time, increased perspiration (which can be energy intensive) and circulation, a sign that the metabolism has increased, resulting in the loss of inches, excess water from fat cells and the release of excess toxins.

• Anti-Aging – Soft, hydrated, detoxified skin is the result of an anti-cellulite body wrap. Skin free of toxins, reveals skin to be smoother, tighter, more radiant youthful skin.

Diet Instructions How to Lose Weight

There are many diets available for you to use but some of the most effective diets are the diets rich in the fiber, protein, very low carb and low fat. But there are many thing you can do to lose the weight besides this.

For years many doctors have been telling us to eat small portions of the meal to lose weight. This is so true for many reasons. One is that our body can diagest the meal a lot faster and easier if we eat small portions of meal. This is the instruction that really helps us lose weight.

The reason this is the best way is because with eating small portions of the meal, you are speeding up your metabolism. With fast metabolism we burn a lot more calories so we are not gaining more weight.

Exercise is another great way to speed up the metabolism. As mentioned before, this is also the reason Doctors have been telling us to exercise. Besides this with exercise we build muscle and muscle needs more calories to maintain than the fat.

One of the biggest mistakes most people make is to starve in order to lose weight. This is a big mistake. You should never starve as hunger slows down the metabolism. Small meals are the key, and you need to eat them more frequently.

So in terms of the diet instructions to lose weight, you just need to eat healthy food such as fruits and vegetables. I know, I know…I lot easier said than done…But that is why there are diets created with the instruction on what food to eat to lose the weight. Many diets make you starve, while others say to eat high protein foods and exercise. The protein makes you feel full longer, and you don’t lose your energy while you are on the diet.

Diets that can help speed up the metabolism are great and such a diet is calorie shifting diet program.

Calorie shifting diet program is 11 day diet. Where you eat a lot of protein, fiber rich foods and a lot of fruits and vegetables. These foods help increase your metabolism rate and with that you lose weight. Any diet instruction how to lose weight that says otherwise, is a not true because if your metabolism is stuck in the low calorie burning mode, you will gain the weight back sooner or later. The biggest benefit of faster metabolism and the way to lose the weight, is that you have a lesser chance of gaining the weight back.

Cycling to Lose Weight – The Plain Facts

Riding a bicycle can be an exciting and enjoyable form of exercise, but there are some important questions that every overweight person thinking of taking up cycling to lose weight should ask themselves.

Would I really enjoy cycling?

If you haven’t ridden a bicycle recently, it might be best to hire one and see how you get on before spending money on a bike that you might not use. Avoid riding in traffic until you have built up your confidence. You could easily be put off by riding in the wrong place. Remember, if your main motivation for taking up cycling is weight loss, you will be spending quite a lot of time on your bike, so you need to enjoy it. Trust me — if you don’t like riding, you won’t do it!

How many calories can I burn cycling?

You can burn quite a lot of calories if you ride at a fairly energetic level. If you ride slowly, you will use fewer calories than walking because riding is more energy-efficient than walking. That’s the reason why bikes are great for local transport, but slow cycling won’t help much with fat-burning. It’s better than nothing, but you won’t be maximizing the health and fitness benefits of your cycling unless you make an effort. Work that body!

To give you some numbers — it takes me 100 miles of vigorous cycling to burn off one pound of fat. That’s a lot of hard work. On flat roads, that should take you about 6-8 hours or so once you get reasonably fit. How many hours a week can you spare?

Do I also need to change my diet?

Almost certainly — yes! If you want to lose 50 pounds of fat, you’d need to ride about 5,000 miles and that’s without eating extra food. You could do it purely by exercise (it doesn’t matter whether that is on a bicycle, in the gym, swimming, whatever — the same principle applies), but it would be incredibly hard work.

You should  get plenty of healthy exercise, and cycling is a wonderful activity, but don’t fool yourself into thinking that you can then eat what you like — you can’t. I have been on mountainous cycling holidays in Spain where I cycled 700 miles in two weeks and I actually gained weight because I ate so much at the hotel buffets!

The best way of not gaining weight is to eat sensibly, in conjunction with getting regular healthy exercise. The best way of losing weight is a sensible diet with a moderate reduction in calories, plus that exercise.

What’s the verdict — should I try cycling to lose weight?

I love cycling so of course I’d suggest you take it up, but the main part of your fat loss will come from careful eating. 400-500 calories a day below what you need to maintain your weight would take about a pound off a week, 50-100 miles of cycling a week would take up to another pound off.

Nitric Oxide: Will It Help You Lose Weight & Burn Fat

Nitric Oxide, also know as “N.O.”, is one of the latest supplements to hit the market, promising lean muscle tone and a sculpted body, enhancing the weight loss and fat burning appearance.

Can this supplement in fact help you to tone up, lose weight, and burn body fat?

If you believe what all the magazines are saying , then I have some land in the Everglades I’d like to sell you.

The bottom line behind nitric oxide supplements (when you shuffle through all the “mumbo-jumbo” sales pitch and hype that are in the ads that promote these products) is that it is a “vasodilator”, which simply means that it supposedly dilates, or opens up, your blood vessels.

This “opening” up wider of the blood vessels supposedly will allow more blood to flow to the working muscles, which will supposedly “enhance” the pump, which will supposedly engorge them and make them larger, helping you build lean muscle tissue, which helps speed up your metabolic rate, which in turn will speed up any weight loss or fat burning that goes on.

Well, there are 2 major points that have to be considered here when evaluating how well they truly are in helping you:

1) Does nitric oxide really open up the blood vessels?

2) Is getting a “massive pump” important if you are trying to build lean, toned muscle to raise the metabolic rate and burn fat and lose weight?

If and how much nitric oxide dilates your blood vessels is still a topic in discussion.

There have been no un-biased, independent, peer-reviewed studies done on this to make it conclusive.

So, we really can’t say “yes” or “no”.

However, let’s play “make believe” and pretend that “yes”, nitric oxide supplements do allow more blood to flow into a working muscle.

If that’s the case, then let’s consider the next point.

Do you need to get a big blood pump into the muscle to develop or tone it?

Will it help the weight loss / fat burning process?

Just about everyone thinks that “yes”, you must get a pump in a muscle to build it.

However, when you are training a muscle in reality you aren’t pushing or sending more blood to the muscle.

What’s actually happening is that when the fibers contract the area inside of the muscle gets smaller, which results in the blood that’s already in there to become trapped and the pressure increased.

So, in reality, there isn’t more blood going into the muscle, there’s actually less since the blood that’s in there is trapped, cannot leave, nor allow fresh blood to enter.

That’s also why as you continue to do reps you begin to feel the “burning” sensation in the working muscle.

That’s a major sign that there is no oxygen anymore inside the blood that’s in the muscle.

When there is no oxygen in the blood it creates a chemical called lactic acid.

Lactic acid is what causes this “burning” feeling.

There is no oxygen in the blood because fresh blood can’t get in there with new oxygen and nutrients!

Plus, you can do 1000 reps of an exercise using a 20 pound dumbbell and get a major pump.

But I guarantee you that you won’t build as toned of a muscle as if you were to use heavier weight, even though it may not make it easier to get as big a “pump”.

So all of this “hoopla” about nitric oxide supplements allowing you to get a better pump to build more lean muscle mass, enhancing the metabolism, weight loss, and fat burning systems is nothing but hype!!!!

It won’t help you lose one ounce of fat / weight.

You watch and see, shortly all of these “N.O.” supplements are going to fade into the shadows and some new powder or pill is going to be the new “talk of the town”, I guarantee it!

How to Lose Weight in Your Thighs During Pregnancy

Gaining weight during pregnancy can be a traumatic experience for any woman. You know it’s part of the natural process but that doesn’t make it any less difficult to deal with does it?

What’s worse is that the extra weight seems to clump together in certain areas, instead of spreading itself out evenly over your entire body. The butt and thighs are typically the most common areas for excess weight to accumulate during pregnancy.

The difficult thing is that because you’re pregnant you can’t simply go on a diet and do the regular things that most of the magazines and TV shows tell people to do…after all, you’re eating for two now, and can’t deprive your baby of what it needs.

So how can you safely lose weight in your thighs during pregnancy, without putting undue stress and strain on your baby?

Well, first I must stress that you should NEVER go on a diet while pregnant, as you simply would not consume enough to feed your baby and keep him/her in perfect health.

With that said, one of the best things you can do to lose weight in your thighs during pregnancy is get regular exercise.

A simple but great exercise to help lose weight in your thighs during pregnancy, that requires no equipment and can even be done at home in front of the TV is to perform lunges. As with all exercises during pregnancy, just remember to use your abdominal muscles to support the spine.

Nine Ways To Train Your Brain To Lose Weight – How To Use The Power Of Your Subconscious Mind

Here’s a quick overview of how one part of your brain works to keep you overweight and how, with just a bit of practice, you can change that part of your brain to help you lose weight.

1. Most of us tend to focus on what we don’t want (i.e., these hips, this stomach, this job, etc.). The problem is that whatever you focus your attention on, your subconscious mind attracts to you. Have you ever sat in the living room saying to yourself, “There is just one more piece of pie in the kitchen. I won’t eat it, I won’t eat it. Oh well, if I just eat it then it will be gone and I won’t have to think about it anymore.” All you can think about is that last piece of pie!

2. Try this experiment to show you how your mind will focus on the object of the sentence: Close your eyes for a moment and do not think about a pink elephant. You will notice that your mind focuses on the object of the thought not the action to be taken. With just a little diligence you will soon be able to focus on what you do want and what you don’t want will fall away from neglect.

3. With a little attention you can learn to expand your “familiar zone.” It’s also been referred to as your “comfort zone”. Most of us aren’t comfortable being fat, but there is a familiarity about it that is comfortable. When you learn to be just as comfortable being the slender you, the natural, slender you can emerge.

4. Losing weight may be risky for you. Being overweight often serves us on many levels, one of which might be protection. The subconscious makes no distinction between the physical, emotional, mental, psychological and spiritual. For example, if your subconscious believes you need emotional protection, you may get “physical” protection instead–usually in the form of extra layers of fat around your body. This protection extends to “boundary issues” as well. What that means is that if you have trouble verbalizing your boundaries (saying “no” is a boundary, for example), your subconscious mind will give you a physical boundary–your larger body. As you become more and more comfortable taking risks, asking for what you want and making known your real needs, you will no longer need that physical boundary. If you don’t need it, the excess weight will go away.

5. To lose weight and keep it off, you need to learn to perceive yourself as a success. Most overweight people see themselves as failures, because you quit that diet or this exercise plan. See yourself as successful, because when one diet didn’t work, you stopped doing it and tried something else.

6. To quit dieting and thinking about food all the time, learn to eat as a normal person. That is, eat when you are hungry, stop when you are satisfied and enjoy it. When you will learn to live in the present moment and not worry about whether when you will eat again, to relax about food, you will stop to wanting to “eat it all now.” Living in the moment, you will also stop thinking of food so much. Imagine what you will spend your time thinking about instead of food. Now that you know food is just a part of your life and not the main focus, you don’t have to have food on your mind all day and it will gradually fade from your thoughts until your body is actually hungry.

7. Have you ever had food available everywhere just in case you became hungry again? Here’s the truth about that: You will get hungry again. That’s the natural cycle of your body. And guess what – then you get to eat again! This knowledge eliminates the need to hoard food.

8. Begin to think and feel and see yourself as a slender person. One of the many reasons we regain weight after dieting is that our subconscious mind has a picture or perception of your body as being overweight. Put up pictures of yourself (or pics from a magazine) all over the house so your mind can begin to be imprinted with the picture of yourself that you want.

9. Have you ever lost weight, looked slender and still thought of yourself as fat? Maybe you saw pictures of yourself during these times and wondered why you still perceived yourself as fat when you actually were slender. All of this will change when you begin to use the power of your subconscious mind to change your internal picture of yourself. If you want this process to be fast, just use hypnosis.

The Night Tomato Diet: A New Way to Lose Weight

Tomatoes are a low calorie, low fat, and highly nutritious fruit. Yes, it’s a fruit for those that still want to argue that it’s a vegetable. Many people will also try to convince others that fruits are not good for losing weight because of the natural sugar in them; however, tomatoes do not fall victim to that belief. They do not contain a high amount of sugar in them.

By knowing that tomatoes are a diet-friendly fruit, you can start to see how it can help you with your diet. But it’s not just eating them that will help you lose weight. It’s eating them at night that can help you.

Why Tomatoes Help You Lose Weight

You should have at least 15mg of lycopene a day. How much is that? You would have to eat 2 large raw tomatoes, 1 can of whole tomatoes, and about 2 cans of tomato juice to reach 15mg of lycopene. It sounds like a lot, but once you start incorporating them into meals and snacks, you’ll easily reach that amount and probably even more.

Before you think that eating that many tomatoes must be high in calories, each tomato is around 30 calories. As you can see, that means you may only be getting 200 calories from all of the tomatoes you eat as part of your tomato diet.

The reason you need to eat so many is because the lycopene in the tomatoes release the weight loss hormone 13-oxo-ODA. This hormone will speed up your metabolism.

Besides activating the weight loss hormone, tomatoes contain fiber, which helps you feel fuller for longer and helps rid your body of toxins. These additional benefits just support all of your weight loss efforts.

Why Eat Tomatoes at Night?

It’s not actually eating them late at night. It’s eating them at dinner. Since dinner is traditionally the largest meal of the day, this is when most people consume the most calories. By adding a large number of tomatoes into a dinner meal (and replacing other high-calorie foods), people are able to cut out many of the calories in that meal. This means that not only are they receiving the nutritional components of the tomatoes and the weight loss factors such as the boost in metabolism, but they are also eating fewer calories.

This diet should be followed for at least three months. Six months is better because it takes that long for the metabolism to reprogram itself. What that means is that once it speeds up because of the tomatoes, it is more likely to stay that way after six months.

Give this diet a try. It will probably be the most nutritious, healthy diet you’ve ever tried that will be effective now and for many years.

Best Elliptical Machine To Lose Weight – 3 Options To Help You Burn Calories Faster

Looking for the best elliptical machine to lose weight? Elliptical trainers have come a long way since the first one was introduced by Precor in 1995.

Today’s crosstrainers let you burn more calories than ever – with several different design options for a more comfortable workout.

With that in mind, here are 3 different elliptical trainer options that can help you burn more calories and lose weight faster than other machines:

#1. NordicTrack Freestrider

The NordicTrack Freestride trainer is a variable motion elliptical – similar to a regular elliptical but instead of a fixed stride length, you can choose your own stride length as you workout (based on how hard and which way you push on the pedals).

In fact, you can get strides of up to 38 inches. Most standard elliptical machines only give you strides of around 18 – 22 inches.

So you can choose a short, stair-like stride, a medium jogging stride or a full throttle hurdling stride, depending on your goals.

Having this flexibility means you’ll more easily find a stride that’s right for you – so you’re more likely to stay on the elliptical longer (because it’s comfortable) and burn more calories.

Also, there’s a power incline function which changes the slope of your running path. This recruits more muscle groups and again burns more calories.

Another bonus? A full-color web browser. So you can read emails, watch YouTube videos or catch up on business news – again, a great way to stay working out longer and burning more calories.

#2. Bowflex Max Trainer

The Bowflex Max is a new twist on a traditional elliptical. It combines the motion of an elliptical with a stair climber – and adds in upper body workout arms that you often see with elliptical machines.

The main benefit? Using the Bowflex Max, you can burn 2.5 times more calories than a regular elliptical, treadmill or stair climber. In fact exercisers in the Bowflex lab burned up to 600 calories in 30 minutes. That will have you slimming down very quickly!

Another bonus is that this machine is very compact – great for smaller workout areas or home gyms. And it’s also super low impact, making it ideal for those with knee issues or shin splints.

#3. Yowza Miami Crosstrainer

While Yowza is not as well known as Bowflex or NordicTrack, their new Miami trainer gives you some amazing benefits when it comes to weight loss.

The moving arms of this elliptical move side to side instead of back and forth – more like a steering wheel. This helps to trim your core.

Also, it comes with an “intelligent” scale that monitors minute changes in your weight. The scale senses these changes and then communicates with the trainer, which will then make you work harder if you’re putting on any extra pounds.

The downside to this trainer is that it’s a bit expensive – around $3000. But if you want the latest technology in your workouts, it might be worth considering.

So those are 3 of the best elliptical machines to lose weight. They’re each built to burn maximum calories and help you get more from your fitness routine.

You’ll be noticing looser clothes in no time on any of these crosstrainers!

Himalayan Pink Salt for Weight Loss

Himalayan pink salt has numerous attributed health properties which deem it rather preferable for use in our daily life. It is scientifically proven to contain more than 80 mineral salts that provide nutrients to the body and mind of the user.

Among the more important health benefits of the pink salt, weight loss is considered a crucial one. Details are discussed below:

Weight Loss using Himalayan Salt

The majority of our population suffers from obesity and unhealthy diet which leads to accumulation of fat on our stomach and thighs. This is the first sign of an unhealthy lifestyle and if this is not controlled in due time, it will takes its toll in the latter part of life.

A natural way to aid weight loss without the fear of side effects is the Himalayan pink salt. According to a few reports, people have reduced weight when they switched to the natural pink salt for their diet instead of the white table salt. Pink salt can be used just like the white salt: in flavoring, marinating, seasoning, preserving, etc. Another very popular method of using pink salt to promote weight loss is using Himalayan salt sole.

What is salt sole?

Himalayan salt appears reddish pink because of the addition of the mineral salts in it. The essence of the salt is in the salt sole.

To make this sole, put a handful of pink salt granules in a big jug of water overnight. Let is dissolve by itself. You can start using the salt sole from the next day, teaspoon by teaspoon. The salt sole will last until the salt dissolves completely.

How does the Himalayan salt effects weight loss?

Salt content in the body causes retention of water inside the cells of the body through the known phenomenon of osmosis. The excess of water causes body to look swelled and fat; it often is also the cause of cellulite too. The Himalayan salt crystals unlike the common table salt release this extra water from the cells. It also decreases the craving by the body for food high in sugar content and carbohydrates.

How to use Himalayan salt for weight loss:

  • For a natural way to intake mineral salts required for the growth and sustenance of the human body, use a teaspoon of concentrated Himalayan salt sole in a cup full of water and drink it on an empty stomach every morning.
  • Use a Himalayan salt massage stone from time to time. It aids in removing accumulation of dead cells from the surface of the skin which removes toxins and other impurities with it. The massage technique also regulate the circulation of blood flow and health hormones inside the body which cause reduction in puffiness, calms down the nervous system, enhances metabolism and improves digestive system.
  • It is also recommended that you use Himalayan bath salt twice a week to relieve symptoms of body sores and muscle pains.
  • To target a particular area of the body for reduction of fat buildup, like stomach, thighs, hips, etc. we recommend ‘salt sole compress wraps’. Elastic bandages are soaked in a 5% solution of salt sole. (Make sure the water is lukewarm.) Wring the extra water out of it. Apply the bandage on the targeted area and let it sit there for an hour or so.
  • Lastly, exercise and a healthy diet are mandatory to assist the use of Himalayan salt towards the goal of weight loss.

Other benefits of using Himalayan salt

Himalayan salt is not only beneficial for weight loss but for following health benefits:

  • Improves circulation in the body
  • Regulates blood pressure
  • Cures kidney problems
  • Balances pH levels inside the body
  • Reduces risk of heart attack
  • Decrease symptoms of asthma, sinus infections, and mucus buildup
  • Provides necessary minerals and nutrients to the body
